The Bromus project consists of two granted wholly-owned adjoining exploration licences: Bromus (E63/1506) and Bromus West (E63/1953) which are considered prospective for nickel and gold, located approximately 20km southwest of the town of Norseman in southern Western Australia. Access is by the sealed Coolgardie-Norseman Highway from Norseman followed by four wheel drive tracks into the project area.
Greatland was granted the initial Bromus exploration licence (E63/1506) in July 2012. Previous exploration activities at and around the Bromus project area had been carried out by Central Norseman Gold Corporation Limited, Resolute Ltd (in joint venture with WMC Resources Ltd and subsequently, Gold Fields Australia Pty Ltd), and Pangea Metals Limited between 1994 to 2008. The work included soil sampling, aircore and reverse circulation drilling.
Geology and Mineralisation
The tenements cover approximately 16km of strike of a north-west trending under-explored Archaean greenstone belt situated between the Goodia granite dome to the east and granite gneisses to the west. The apparent width of the greenstone belt ranges between 600m and 3,500m. The greenstone sequence comprises fragments of an ultramafic package hosted in mafic and felsic volcanics and sediments with very little magnetic character other than the ultramafic body located towards the southeast of the project area. The majority of the project area is covered by calcareous soils with little exposure of the underlying prospective ultramafics and greenstones.
